For cPanel version 11.40
(Home >> Security >> SSL/TLS Manager)
The SSL and TLS features will enhance your website's security. These features generate and manage SSL certificates, signing requests, and keys. These features are useful for websites that regularly work with sensitive information, such as login credentials and credit card numbers. This sensitive information will be sent to and from your website as encrypted data versus plain text. This encryption makes it difficult for malicious users to intercept communications between visitors and your website.
The following documents provide more information regarding this interface:
- Private Keys (KEY) – This feature allows you to generate, view, upload, or delete your private keys.
- Certificates (CRT) – This feature allows you to generate, view, upload, or delete SSL certificates.
- Activate and Manage SSL on Your Website (HTTPS) – This feature allows you to setup an SSL certificate to work with your site.
- Note: To view the Activate and Manage SSL on Your Web Site interface, your domain must have a dedicated IP address, or your server must support SNI.
The following table describes a user's privileges to create an SSL certificate:
| User Type
| Website Owners
|| A website owner can only create an SSL Certificate on their own domain that is hosted on a dedicated IP address.
|| A reseller can create an SSL host on any IP address that has been dedicated to the reseller. This IP address cannot be dedicated to an SSL resource.
| Reseller with Root privileges
|| Root, or a reseller with root privileges, can create an SSL Certificate on any available IP address on the server. This IP address cannot be dedicated to an SSL resource.
