Auto Responders

You can use an auto responder to automatically send a pre-written response to anyone who sends email to you (or any account on your domain). For example, if you will be away from your office, you can configure an auto responder to automatically return an email notifying the sender that you are unavailable.

Auto responder loops

If you have set up a forwarder that sends mail to an address with an active auto responder, it is possible to create an email loop, which can be very detrimental to your server. Please take care not to set up such a loop. Also, if you are going to send mail from your account, you should ensure that your auto responder has been disabled.

Responding to email sent to nonexistent accounts

You can set up auto responders to reply to email sent to accounts that do not exist on your domain. However, if you do this, be aware that the incoming email messages will be discarded after being processed by the auto-responder. To avoid this, you must set up an email account (see the Email Accounts feature) or forwarder (see the Mail Forwarders feature) corresponding to the desired address.

Deleting an auto responder

You can delete an auto responder by clicking the Delete option in the Functions column of the Current Auto Responders table.
