Configure Remote Service IPs

For WHM version 11.32

(Main >> IP Functions >> Configure Remote Service IPs)

This feature allows you to specify remote mail server and nameserver IP addresses that the system will then consider as local addresses.

Remote mail server IP addresses

This feature allows you to specify the IP addresses of remote services that handle mail for one or more domains. This feature is commonly used to specify the address of a third-party spam filtering service.

This feature adds entries to /etc/ips.remotemail This file is a line-separated list of remote mail server IP addresses that the system considers as local.

To add remote mail server IP addresses:

  1. Click the Remote Mail Server IPs tab.
  2. Enter the IP addresses you wish to add into the available text field, one per line.
  3. Click the Save button.

Removing mail server IP addresses

To remove remote mail server IP addresses:

  1. Delete the entries you no longer wish to use from the text field.
  2. Click the Save button.

Remote nameserver IP addresses

This feature allows you to specify remote nameserver IP addresses. You can use this feature to allow users to create remote parked or addon domains by specifying the nameserver IP address that corresponds to the domain.

This feature adds entries to /etc/ips.remotedns This file is a line-separated list of remote nameserver IP addresses that the system considers as local. This file is referenced whenever a cPanel user attempts to create a parked or addon domain.

If you are using remotely clustered nameservers, you will still need to manually add the IP addresses.

To add remote nameserver IP addresses:

  1. Click the Remote Name Server IPs tab.
  2. Enter the IP addresses you wish to add into the available text field, one per line.
  3. Click the Save button.

Removing remote nameserver IP addresses

To remove remote nameserver IP addresses:

  1. Delete the entries you no longer wish to use from the text field.
  2. Click the Save button.

The Allow Remote Domains option

If you wish to allow users to create remote parked or addon domains while overriding the nameservers specified in the Configure Remote Service IPs feature, you can enable the Allow Remote Domains option in the Tweak Settings interface (Main >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings >> Allow Remote Domains).

ALERT! Warning: We strongly discourage enabling this option for security reasons. If you choose to enable this option, please also enable the Prevent cPanel users from creating specific domains option in the Tweak Settings interface (Main >> Server Configuration >> Tweak Settings >> Prevent cPanel users from creating specific domains).
