Edit a Locale

For WHM version 11.32

(Main >> Locales >> Edit a Locale)

This feature provides three tools to help you edit locales.

Locale Editor - Live Mode

This tool allows you to edit a locale's collection of translated phrases using the cPanel interface. The changes you make will be updated to the server.

To edit a locale's collection of translated phrases:

  1. Select a locale from the Locale pull-down menu.
  2. Select a theme from the Theme pull-down menu.
  3. Select a reseller account name from the Reseller pull-down menu.
  4. Click Go. You will be directed to the cPanel interface.
  5. Click on the phrase you wish to edit (in green font). An editor window will pop up.
  6. Edit the phrase in the Value box.
  7. Click Evaluate Expression to check whether the edited phrase can be successfully parsed.
  8. Click Save Changes to confirm changes or cancel to cancel changes.

If you wish to make these changes offline, simply download the locale file using the Locale XML Download screen. Then, after you make the desired changes, upload the file using the Locale XML Upload screen.

note Note: This tool requires that you have a reseller account with all features enabled. Otherwise, you will be unable to edit all of the language tags. In addition, if you have disallowed root or reseller logins to cPanel user accounts, this feature will not work. To re-enable the Locale Editor - Live Mode, select one of the following options at Tweak Settings > System > Accounts that can access a cPanel user account:

  • Root, Account-Owner, and cPanel User — To allow root and the reseller to access the cPanel account
  • Account-Owner and cPanel User Only — To allow the reseller to access the cPanel account

Locale Editor - Bulk Mode

This tool allows you to edit any and all of a locale's phrases.

To edit a locale's phrases:

  1. Select a locale from the Locale pull-down menu.
  2. Select a theme from the Theme pull-down menu.
  3. Click Go. You will be directed to a new page.
  4. Click Edit under the phrase you wish to edit.
  5. Edit the value in the text box.
  6. Click Save Changes to confirm changes, or click cancel to cancel changes.

note Note: You can undo your edits to a specific phrase by clicking Revert to Default Value.

Non Standard Locale Configuration

This tool allows you to configure data for a non standard locale.

A non standard locale is a language with no data in the CLDR. These locales are named by means of i_ tags. These tags are standard ways to create, identify, and work with non standard locales by prefixing the language name with the letter 'i' followed by an underscore.

To configure a non standard locale:

  1. Select a locale from the Locale pull-down menu.
  2. Click Go.
  3. Enter a display name in the Display Name box.
  4. Select the fallback locale, number formatting, and character orientation from the appropriate pull-down menus.
    • note Note: When a non-standard locale's lexicon does not have a phrase, the system looks it up in the "fallback" locale.
  5. Click Save.
