How to Deny FTP Access — /etc/ftpusers

Introduction

The /etc/ftpusers file on your server contains a list of users who should be denied FTP access.

Editing /etc/ftpusers

When you add usernames to /etc/ftpusers, be aware that:

• Each entry consists of one cPanel account username or system account username (such as root).
  • If you wish to block an FTP user, you will need to block the cPanel account that owns the FTP user's account.
• You should separate entries using new lines.
