Setup/Edit Domain Forwarding
For WHM version 11.32
This feature allows you to
redirect one domain to another domain. This is useful, for example, for temporarily redirecting visitors while a site is down for maintenance.
When you configure domain forwarders, WHM assigns the next available address in the
IP address pool as the forwarding
IP address. Once the forwarding
IP address is configured, you will need to properly configure the domain's
DNS records. To accomplish this, enter the forwarding
IP address in the zone file's A record. At this point, you can use the
Setup/Configure Domain Forwarding feature to
redirect traffic from one domain to another.
Note: The forwarding domain does not need to be hosted by your server. The domain's A record simply needs to point to the
IP address of your domain forwarder.
To set up a domain forwarder:
- Click Click to Create.
- If WHM succeeds in setting up domain forwarding, it will display a “Domain Forwarder Created” message.
- Click Setup Forwards.
- In the Domain column, enter the domain whose visitors you would like to redirect.
- For example, this could be the domain which will be down for maintenance. You can also enter subdomains, such as
sub.example.com.
- In the Redirection URL column, enter the domain to which you wish to redirect visitors.
- Click Save Map.
If you wish to disable
domain forwarding, click the
Click to remove domain forwarder button.
