Overview

This feature will allow you to update your cPanel & WHM software in accordance with the preferences that you entered on the Update Preferences screen.

For example, if you opted to install the CURRENT version of cPanel & WHM, then this feature will upgrade your server to the latest CURRENT build.

Additional Software Updates

The script that this feature runs (/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/upcp) also calls other scripts in the /usr/local/cpanel/scripts directory that will update most of the software on your system.

The following table lists the additional scripts and the software that they update:

Script Name WHM Feature Description
/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/rpmup2 Update System Software This script updates your system software. This script is essentially the same as yum update.
/usr/local/cpanel/scripts/sysup Update Server Software This script updates software dependencies required by cPanel that are provided by the operating system.
The /usr/local/cpanel/scripts/*up Scripts N/A There are a number of scripts that update applications installed with cPanel. For a complete list of *up scripts, visit our WHM Scripts documentation.

Forced Reinstall

This feature will also allow you to force a reinstall of the cPanel & WHM software, regardless of whether WHM detects that your system is up-to-date. This can be useful if any files have become corrupted or need to be reinstalled.

How To Update Your cPanel & WHM Software

To update your cPanel & WHM software within the WHM interface:

  1. Click Click to Upgrade.
  2. If you wish to force a reinstall of the software, select the checkbox.

PICK Note to iPad® users: If you click Click to Upgrade and you use Safari® on iPad, the browser will display unreadable, small text. To adjust the text size, zoom in with normal iPad zoom gestures.

note Note: You can also run /scripts/upcp via the command line as the root user.
