Web Template Editor

For WHM version 11.32

The Web Template Editor allows you to create placeholder web pages. These pages will appear to visitors who navigate to a site on your server that:

PICK Important: When configuring your template, please keep the following points in mind:

  • Images used in these templates must reside in /usr/local/cpanel/img-sys/ and be linked via /img-sys/, if you have access to this directory.
  • You can use the [% data.protocol %] tag as a substitute for http or https when linking to images or files outside of the img-sys directory.

Default Website Template

This page will appear to visitors who navigate to a site on your server that has not been configured by the domain owner, or has been deleted.

note Note: If you have manually created /usr/local/apache/htdocs/index.php, index.cgi, or index.pl, this page will be overridden by these scripts.

This template file will be saved as /var/cpanel/webtemplates/root/english/default.tmpl.

ALERT! Warning: If the sought domain has been redirected, visitors will not see this page. In order for visitors to see the template, you must copy the finished /var/cpanel/webtemplates/root/english/default.tmpl file to the /home/username/public_html directory of the destination domain (the domain to which this website redirects visitors).

Edit the default website template

To edit the default website template:

  1. Make your desired changes in the HTML editor window.
  2. If you wish, click Preview to view the page with your changes.
  3. When you are finished, click Save to store your changes.

  • To revert to the most recently saved version of the template, click Revert.
  • To discard all your edits and revert to the default template, click Revert to Default.
    ALERT! Warning: Your edits will not be saved.

Upload your custom website template

To upload a custom website template you have made:

  1. Under Upload Your Own Template, click Browse.
  2. Browse to the template file on your local computer.
  3. Click Upload Template.

Account Move

This page appears to visitors who navigate to a site on your server that has moved.

This template file will be saved as /var/cpanel/webtemplates/root/english/moving.tmpl.

ALERT! Warning: If the sought domain has been redirected, visitors will not see this page. In order for visitors to see the template, you must copy the finished /var/cpanel/webtemplates/root/english/moving.tmpl file to the /home/username/public_html directory of the destination domain (the domain to which this website redirects visitors).

Edit the template

To edit the "account move" template:

  1. Make your desired changes in the HTML editor window.
  2. If you wish, click Preview to view the page with your changes.
  3. When you are finished, click Save to store your changes.

  • To revert to the most recently saved version of the template, click Revert.
  • To discard all your edits and revert to the default template, click Revert to Default.

  1. Under Upload Your Own Template, click Browse.
  2. Browse to the template file on your local computer.

Connection Selection

This page will appear to visitors who navigate to a site on your server that is experiencing a connection or firewall problem.

This template file will be saved as /var/cpanel/webtemplates/root/english/redirect.tmpl.

PICK Important: In addition to the [% data.protocol %] tag referenced above, you can use the following tags when configuring this template:

  • [% data.ishttps %] — Inserts 1 if the visitor accessed the site at a secure port (2083, 2087, or 2096), or 0 otherwise.
  • [% data.port %] — Inserts the cPanel port number.
  • [% data.js_safe_redirecturl %] — Inserts the URL of the domain's cPanel interface.
  • [% data.js_safe_proxyurl %] — Inserts the URL of the cPanel proxy.

This page will appear to visitors who navigate to a site on your server that has been suspended.

This template file will be saved as /var/cpanel/webtemplates/root/english/suspended.tmpl.

ALERT! Warning: If the sought domain has been redirected, visitors will not see this page. In order for visitors to see the template, you must copy the finished /var/cpanel/webtemplates/root/english/suspended.tmpl file to the /home/username/public_html directory of the destination domain (the domain to which this website redirects visitors).
