For cPanel & WHM 11.46

You can use SSH to access your server remotely, or, if you use a Windows® PC, you can use PuTTY.

After you connect to your server, regardless of how you connect to it, you must run POSIX-standardized commands to manipulate files.

Access your server remotely via SSH

To access your server remotely via SSH, perform the following steps:

  1. Use your preferred application to open the command line interface.
  2. Run the ssh root@$IP command (where $IP represents your target server's IP address).
  3. Enter your server's root password.

Access your server from a Windows PC

To use PuTTY to access your server from a Windows PC, perform the following steps:

  1. Download and install the client from the PuTTY site.
  2. Open the client.
  3. In the Sessions menu, enter your server's IP address.

Make certain to select the SSH button.

  4. Click Open.
  5. Enter your server's root password.

For more information, visit the PuTTY site.
