This feature allows you to enable or disable password authorization for SSH authentication. If you disable password authorization, the system will force users to use keys when they use SSH to access your server.
How to manage SSH passwords
Click Enable Password Auth to enable SSH passwords, or click Disable Password Auth to disable them.
This will affect two settings in the SSH daemon configuration file (
- If you enable this feature, the system will restart the SSH service and disconnect all of the connected users. This includes the
- Password Authorization settings also apply to the
rootuser. Set up SSH keys through WHM's Manage Root's SSH Keys interface (Home >> Security Center >> Manage root's SSH Keys) if Password Authorization is disabled.
- If Password Authorization is disabled, your users must use SSH keys. SSH keys for cPanel users can be set up in WHM's Manage Root's SSH Keys inferface (Home >> Security Center >> Manage root's SSH Keys).
- In order to use the keys that you create in cPanel's GnuPG keys interface (cPanel >> Security >> GnuPG Keys), you must manually import them.
