Hostname

Enter your server's hostname in the This Server's Hostname text box.

Remember:

The hostname must be a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). FQDNs are domain names that specify an exact location, from the top level user domain to the root domain, when you read them from right to left. This hostname must use the subdomain.domain.extension format. For example, for the server account on the domain example.com, enter server.example.com as the hostname.

Note:

Whenever you change the server's hostname, you must use one of the following methods:

These methods ensure that all of the necessary system and service changes occur.

Resolvers

Warning:

  • You must choose reliable resolvers. If you do not, it will severely degrade your server's performance.
  • You can only use IPv4 addresses as resolvers. The system will not add IPv6 addresses to the /etc/resolv.conf file.

Resolvers initiate DNS queries, which allow your server to find and convert human-readable domain names to machine-readable IP addresses. You must configure resolvers for the server in order for it to work correctly. You can obtain resolver IP addresses from your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

To configure your server's resolvers, perform the following steps:

  1. In the Primary Resolver text box, enter your primary resolver IP address.
  2. In the Secondary Resolver text box, enter your secondary resolver IP address.

  3. If you have a third resolver IP address, enter it in the Third Resolver text box.
