(Home >> Networking Setup >> Resolver Configuration)

Overview

The Resolver Configuration interface allows you to use a configuration wizard to edit the /etc/resolv.conf file. This file contains the nameservers that your server will query to resolve domain names into IP addresses.

Click Proceed to continue to the next interface, which allows you to enter two or three resolvers for your server to use. Your server requires at least two resolver IP addresses and the third address is optional. You can obtain resolver IP addresses from your service provider.

Important

  • You can only use IPv4 addresses as resolvers.  The system will not add IPv6 addresses to the /etc/resolv.conf file.
  • If you do not configure these resolvers correctly, your server will not connect to the Internet.

How to configure resolvers

To enter and configure your resolvers, perform the following steps:

  1. Enter two IP addresses in the Primary and Secondary Resolver text boxes.

    Note

You service provider should provide you with your resolver IP addresses.
  2. If you have a third resolver IP address, enter it in the Third Resolver text box.
  3. Click Continue.

If your server cannot connect to the Internet after you configure your resolvers, check the /etc/resolv.conf file to ensure that it is properly configured.
