Overview

cPanel & WHM includes the Git software. The Git installation is located in the /usr/local/cpanel/3rdparty/bin/git directory.

Before you install Git

Before you install a system version of Git, perform the following steps:

  1. Verify that the /etc/yum.conf file does not contain perl* in the exclude line.
  2. If it is present, temporarily remove perl* from the line and save the file.

The exclude line in the /etc/yum.conf file may appear similar to the following example:

exclude=bind-chroot dovecot* exim* filesystem httpd* kernel kernel-xen kernel-smp kernel-pae kernel-PAE kernel-SMP kernel-hugemem kmod-* kernel-debug* kmod-* mod_ssl* mydns* mysql* nsd* php* proftpd* pure-ftpd* ruby* spamassassin* squirrelmail*

Warning:

If you edit the /etc/yum.conf file, make certain to revert the changes after the Git installation is complete.

How to install Git
