This article explains why you received an email notification to reset your SSL certificates for your cPanel services.
Why you received an email notification to reset your cPanel SSL certificates
If you do not reset an SSL certificate before it expires, it will become invalid. When the certificate for your cPanel service expires within 30 days, your server sends you reminder email notifications. The system automatically renews self-signed certificates when they expire, or you can renew the certificates at any time to stop the email notifications. For example, you might receive the following email:

How to reset self-signed SSL certificates
Only perform the following steps to reset a self-signed certificate and not a signed certificate. If you perform these steps for a signed certificate, you will replace a signed certificate with a self-signed certificate. When a user navigates to a website with a self-signed certificate, they receive a warning message. We strongly recommend that you use a signed certificate. When you reset the SSL certificate for Calendar, cPanel, Webdisk, Webmail, and WHM Services, the system will log you out of WHM. Log in again to reset additional certificates.
To reset any cPanel service's self-signed SSL certificate, perform the following steps:
- Log in to WHM as the
- Navigate to WHM's Manage SSL Certificates interface (WHM >> Home >> Service Configuration >> Manage SSL Certificates).
- In the Actions column, click Reset Certificate for the desired service.
The new expiration date will display in the Certificate Expiration column.
