This document provides an overview of proxy subdomains. In cPanel & WHM version 11.42 and later, we modified Apache's configuration to properly use proxy subdomains with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.
Proxy subdomain explanation
Proxy subdomains provide access to
cpsrvd over the standard
https ports. They also provide configuration information for mail, calendar, and contact clients. When you create a new account, parked domain, or addon domain, the system automatically creates these proxy subdomains.
We recommend that you access the cPanel, WHM, and WebMail login interfaces via the associated port for the speed advantage. However, certain circumstances require that you use a proxy subdomain instead. The following table compares the advantages of both login types:
The configuration information proxy subdomains
autoconfig proxy subdomains grant programs access to domain configuration settings. Programs access the
proxy subdomains for calendar and contact communication. The following tables lists proxy subdomains, with their associated program:
