Create a DigitalOcean account
Navigate to DigitalOcean
Navigate to the DigitalOcean website.
Then, click Sign Up in the top right corner. The Sign Up page will appear.
Enter your account information
Enter your full name, email address, and desired password in the corresponding text boxes.
Then click Continue. An email confirmation page will appear.
- To sign up with your Google account credentials, click Sign up with Google.
- If an account already exists for your email address, the page will display an error message and the Log In page will appear.
Confirm your email account
Check your email account for a confirmation message.
Click the link on that email message. The Billing Info page will appear.
Enter billing information
Enter your billing information. DigitalOcean accepts credit cards, debit cards, and PayPal® payments.
When you are ready, click Save Card. The Project page will appear.
Enable Two-factor Authentication
We strongly recommend that you use two-factor authentication for enhanced security.
You will need a smartphone and the Google Authenticator app or the ability to receive text messages.
To enable two-factor authentication on your account, perform the following steps:
In the left sidebar under Account, click Security. The Account page will appear with the Security tab.
Click Enable Two-factor Authentication. The Choose an authentication method window will appear.
We recommend that you select the Authenticator app. Then, click Continue. The Connect your app window will display a QR code.
Scan the QR code with your Authenticator app.
The Authenticator app will display a 6 digit code. Enter that code in the Enter authentication code text box and click Submit. The Now, add a backup method window will appear.
Select Backup codes and click Continue.
Click Download as a .txt file.
DigitalOcean will now require you to enter a 6-digit code to confirm your identity when you sign in.
