Managing Your Files

Overview
Organize your website’s files and folders, all from the Files hub.
The File Manager tab gives you an interactive file browser for your home directory (/home/user).
- Press the
CtrlorCmdkey on your keyboard to select multiple files. - Any action will fail if there is a duplicate name conflict. To prevent this, rename or delete one of the files first.
Browse and organize your files
Click the home icon () at any time to return to your home directory. Create new items directly in your current directory with New File () or New Folder ().
To reorganize existing files, select one or more items and choose Move () to relocate them, or Copy () to duplicate them, into a different directory.
To change a file or folder’s name, select it and choose Rename () from the More () menu.
View and edit a file
Select Open () from the More () menu to view or access a file from your browser. Select Edit () from the same menu to modify a file’s contents using the built-in editor.
Upload and download files
Click Upload () to transfer files from your local computer to the server. Select Overwrite existing files to replace items that share a name. You can also upload compressed ZIP or TAR archives and extract them later.
Click Download () to transfer files from the server to your local computer.
Compress and extract archives
Select one or more items and click Compress () to create a compressed ZIP or TAR archive. Click Extract () on an existing archive to decompress it and access its contents.
Delete files
Select a file or folder and click Delete () to permanently remove it from the server.
Manage file permissions
Click Permissions () to manage a file or folder’s access rights and ownership settings. The Permissions column uses octal values to show current read, write, and execute privileges.
