Keyboard Shortcuts in WHM

Overview

We include keyboard shortcuts within the WHM interface to allow for quicker navigation. You can use some of these shortcuts in any part of the WHM interface, while others only apply to the left navigation menu.

Global shortcuts

Key MacOS alternative Action
Shift + 8 (Asterisk) Toggle the menu between Expand all and Collapse all.
Ctrl + / Command + / Move the cursor to the search box.
` (Backtick) Hide or show the side navigation menu.
Note:
We added this functionality in cPanel & WHM version 66.
Alt + F2 ItemTwo Opens the Support Menu tab.

Left navigation menu shortcuts

Key MacOS alternative Action
Up arrow Navigate up the interface or menu.
Down arrow Navigate down the interface or menu.
Left arrow
  • For left-to-right (LTR) locales, collapse the highlighted category.
  • For right-to-left (RTL) locales, expand the highlighted category.
Right arrow
  • For left-to-right (LTR) locales, expand the highlighted category.
  • For right-to-left (RTL) locales, collapse the highlighted category.
Enter Open the selected item.
Shift + Tab Navigate up the menu.
Tab Navigate down the menu.
Home Fn + Left arrow Select the first section in the menu.
End Fn + Right arrow Select the last item in the menu.
Esc Clear the search box.

Set up browser shortcuts in MacOS

Note:
Firefox or SafariĀ® browser users on the MacOS may need to activate the use of the Tab key to properly navigate the left menu.

To activate use of the Tab key in Firefox, perform the following steps:

  1. Open System Preferences in your MacOS system.
  2. Click Keyboard.
  3. Select Keyboard Shortcuts.
  4. Select All controls under the Full Keyboard Access section.

To activate use of the Tab key in Safari, perform the following steps:

  1. Open Safari.
  2. In the menu bar, click Safari and then select Preferences from the menu.
  3. Select Advanced from the Preferences window.
  4. Select the checkbox next to Press Tab to highlight each item on a webpage.
