This interface allows you to manage the wheel group’s membership. The system grants users in the wheel group the permission to execute the
su command, which allows a user to gain
root or superuser access.
This interface does not grant users permission to run the
sudocommand. To grant users permission to execute the
sudocommand, open the
/etc/sudoersfile and uncomment the following line:
%wheel ALL=(ALL) ALL
We strongly suggest that you use the
visudocommand to open the
visudocommand opens the
/etc/sudoersfile in a text editor and validates the file’s syntax when you save your changes. For more information about the

This interface changes to Manage Sudo Group Users for any server using Ubuntu for its operating system.
Manage wheel group users
To add a user to the wheel group, perform the following steps:
Select the desired user from the Add a user to the wheel group menu.
Click Add to Group.
To remove a user from the wheel group, perform the following steps:
Select the appropriate user from the Remove a user from the wheel group menu.
Click Remove from Group.
